In August 2017 I set out on an open-ended bicycle tour circumnavigating the US. This video blog highlights the fourteenth leg of my journey from New Orleans, LA to DeRidder, LA.
This section of the ride started out with a beautiful ride along the Missippi River Levee Trail. The trail provided amazing views of the river and the large boats heading up and down it. From there it was a lot of farm roads past vast open fields. I ended the day in Baton Rouge with a beautiful sunset. From Baton Rouge, I crossed the Mississippi and truly entered the west. This part of Lousiana was mostly bayou and swamp. I traveled along highway 190 with a good shoulder most of the way, but with a bit of traffic. The final section to DeRidder followed backcountry farm roads with little to no traffic. It was enjoyable coming into DeRidder and spending my last night in Lousiana.
